Building Leadership

Nate Winslow, Principal

Nate Winslow proudly serves as principal of Harmony Middle School. He has been part of the HMS community since 2016. Prior to that, he spent three years as the assistant principal. Winslow values the school’s supportive, caring and positive environment and is honored to lead such a strong and connected community.

Before moving into administration, Winslow taught high school social studies at Blue Valley West and Blue Valley Southwest. He also coached boys’ basketball as well as boys’ and girls’ golf. His passion for working with students both inside and outside the classroom continues to guide his leadership.

Winslow earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Rockhurst University and a master’s degree in school administration from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Outside of school, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Florence, and their three children—Natalia, Andres and Camila. Together, they enjoy staying active and making the most of family time.

Winslow believes Harmony Middle offers the total package: an outstanding staff, a strong academic program and enriching extracurricular opportunities—all aimed at giving students the best possible middle school experience.

Emily Wilson, Assistant Principal

Emily Wilson is proud to serve as assistant principal at Harmony Middle School. She brings over a decade of classroom experience and a deep connection to the HMS community. She has served as assistant principal since 2021. Before becoming an administrator, she spent nine years teaching sixth grade social studies and English language arts at Harmony. She also taught fifth grade in the Gardner-Edgerton and Shawnee Mission school districts.

While teaching at Harmony, she was highly involved in student life, serving as a cheer coach, Camp T-Bird coordinator and assistant director for school plays and musicals. She values building strong relationships with students, families and colleagues and is passionate about creating a positive and supportive environment where all students can thrive.

A graduate of Blue Valley North High School, she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from MidAmerica Nazarene University, a master’s degree in education from Baker University and an educational administration license from Emporia State University.

Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Dustin, and their two children, Elliot and Fletcher. She also loves coffee, dark chocolate, cheering on KC sports teams and unwinding with a good documentary or podcast.

She is dedicated to helping students find their passion and place in middle school and believes the Harmony community provides the ideal environment to support academic growth and social-emotional learning.

One of her favorite guiding quotes is from Brené Brown:
"Choose courage over comfort. Choose whole hearts over armor. And choose the great adventure of being brave and afraid. At the exact same time."
